We like helping, do you like helping?

As we began to research our vacation to Nicaragua, it quickly became apparent just how poverty stricken the country actually is. Did you know that 40% of the homes in Nicaragua do not have running water and a third of the children never graduate the 6th grade? There is so much left to be desired in every aspect of life, when you have so little.

Although our initial objective was to get a bit of R&R, we remained diligent in our search to find an orphanage or a school that could use our help. Finally, we came upon the San Juan del Sur Biblioteca and the Barrio Planta Project (BPP).We soon realized that these were the organizations that we had been looking for.

The Plan and the Goals: Achieved

With your help, we were able to enrich the lives of hundreds of children! Our goal to raise $3,000 in one month was blown out of the water, and thanks to your generous contributions we raised $4,178.95!!! We had an incredible field day with the children of the BPP, and an extremely rewarding day with the Biblioteca Movil where we visited three schools in the surrounding countryside.

So many of you found the warmth in your heart to support our adventure and so many lives have been changed for the better because of it, ours included. Click here and here for photos and details about how your donations helped so many.

What's next for iLikeHelping.org? Only time will tell, but rest assured that we are not done helping!
